Lina Rafn, singer and co-founder of the Danish dance pop duo Infernal, turns 50 on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. She says she will not mark the day with a big celebration.
The birthday was reported by Avisen Danmark, which published a Ritzau item on Wednesday morning. Rafn’s comments come from a press release issued by her record label, Border Breakers.
According to the release, Rafn said she will not celebrate her half century with a bang, and probably not even a small one. She pointed to Infernal’s summer calendar of festival concerts around Denmark and a new release on the way. She added that she feels her life celebrates her every single day.
Nearly three decades with Infernal
Rafn was a competitive swimmer as a child and later a sport dancer, reaching the world’s top 100. She met Paw Lagermann at 15, and the pair began making music on his gaming computer.
Infernal debuted in 1997 with the single “Sorti de l’Enfer,” together with DJ Søren Haahr, who later left the group. The album “Infernal Affairs” followed in 1998 and sold more than 80,000 copies, per the Ritzau report.
Rafn and Lagermann broke through internationally almost a decade later, when “From Paris to Berlin” climbed the charts. Other hits include “I Won’t Be Crying” and “Ten Miles.” The duo has sold more than 1.7 million albums and singles worldwide, according to the same report.
Their awards include a Danish Grammy and a Danish Music Award. Beyond her own recordings, Rafn has written and produced songs for other artists, among them Sanne Salomonsen and Kato.
Danish audiences have also met her on television and radio. She has been a judge on the singing competition “X Factor,” taken part in the TV 2 program “Stormester,” and hosted the DR program “Far med fjerboa.” She is a recurring panelist on the podcast “Mads & A-holdet.”
Rafn has pursued several business ventures alongside her work in the Danish music scene. In 2014 she helped open the Copenhagen nightclub Klosteret, which went bankrupt two years later. During the coronavirus lockdown, she and Lagermann launched their own beer, and spirits products are now part of Infernal’s brand.
Rafn has been married to Kasper Pertho since 1998. The couple have a daughter, Karmen, and the family lives in Valby in Copenhagen.
