Truck and car crash closes road north of Billund

A truck and a passenger car collided on Bredsten Landevej near Filskov, north of Billund, on Tuesday morning. The road is closed for an indefinite period while emergency services work at the scene.

The accident happened on the morning of Tuesday, August 18, 2026, according to Avisen Danmark, which carries Ritzau’s reporting. The first reports from the scene said a truck and a passenger car were involved.

Per P4 Trafik, the crash occurred at the junction between Bredsten Landevej and Sølundvej. The same traffic service states that the road is blocked for an unspecified period of time, and drivers are asked to find alternative routes.

Vejle Amts Folkeblad reported that Vejle Brandvæsen asked for room to work at the site, indicating a large emergency response. The duty officer at Sydøstjyllands Politi told Ritzau shortly before 8:30 a.m. that officers were present, but that no further information could be given.

Injuries not yet confirmed

Ekstra Bladet describes the crash as a head-on collision between the truck and the car on Bredsten Landevej at Sølundvej. The outlet calls the situation serious and chaotic, and notes that police were still working to gain an overview.

According to Ekstra Bladet, the extent of the injuries was not known at the time of publication. Citing JydskeVestkysten, the same outlet reports that people were trapped in connection with the collision. That detail had not been confirmed by Sydøstjyllands Politi.

The uncertainty is reflected across the coverage. Both Ekstra Bladet and BT, which carries the same Ritzau text, cite the police as unable to give precise details of what happened. The number of injured people and the severity of their injuries therefore remain unclear.

Ekstra Bladet describes traffic on the affected stretch of Bredsten Landevej as paralyzed by the accident and the emergency response. Bredsten Landevej is a main road in the Sydøstjyllands Politi district, and Filskov lies north of Billund in central Jutland.

No separate written statement or press release from Sydøstjyllands Politi was available in the coverage published Tuesday morning. The only official information came from the duty officer’s verbal confirmation relayed by Ritzau to Avisen Danmark and BT.

The reporting followed within roughly an hour of the emergency call, with outlets noting that the closure was ongoing and that officers had not yet clarified the sequence of events. Avisen Danmark timestamped its report at 8:35 a.m. on August 18, 2026.
