Stalking case: Ekstra Bladet editor gets restraining order

Ekstra Bladet editor in chief Knud Brix has spoken publicly about being stalked by a woman, in a case that ended with a five year restraining order. His account appeared on August 18, 2026, the same week his novel Paranoia was published.

Brix, who was born and raised at Palsgaard Slot and comes from the family behind the Palsgaard group, has described the course of events in detail. Avisen Danmark reports that the contact began with a message from an unknown number.

At the time he was hosting the DR podcast Genstart, recently divorced and at home with covid. A woman wrote praising his journalism, he replied, and the two arranged to meet at his home. According to his account, coffee turned into wine and the mood was flirtatious.

The unwanted contact intensified after he declined a second meeting, Avisen Danmark reports. Countless text messages and emails followed, in which the woman alternated between declaring her love, becoming angry and apologizing. In the Genstart episode, he describes hundreds of messages containing insults and accusations.

A further escalation came when Brix learned that the woman was set to take a job at his son’s school. He has said the floor seemed to open beneath him and that he broke down in tears. The hiring did not go ahead after he contacted the school’s management.

One night he woke to his dog barking in the home he shared with his girlfriend and their newborn daughter. The woman was standing in the living room. He barricaded himself in the bedroom and called the police.

Charges and restraining order

The woman was charged with husfredskrænkelse, a violation of domestic peace, and unlawful entry, and later received the restraining order. BT notes that stalking was not a separate criminal offense at the time. DR, which published his full account, describes the case as celebrity stalking.

The woman, who is anonymous in most coverage, has also been interviewed. Speaking to DR, she regrets her actions and says she never had bad intentions. She calls it transgressive that the case is being brought into public view again.

Politiken reports that she rejects the label stalker and accuses Brix of using her story for his own benefit. The same reporting states that the five year restraining order, imposed after more than a year of unwanted contact, expired about two weeks before the book was published.

Brix is now editor in chief at Ekstra Bladet. Next year he moves to Kenya to work as DR’s Africa correspondent. His novel Paranoia, released this week, is inspired by his experiences with the woman.
