A 15-year-old girl riding a bicycle died Thursday afternoon after being hit by a truck at a roundabout on Hobrovej in Randers, East Jutland Police said.
The fatal crash happened on Thursday, August 13, in the roundabout at Hobrovej 109 in Randers. Avisen Danmark reports that the girl died at 3:11 p.m. after the collision with the truck.
The victim was a 15-year-old girl on a bicycle, according to the same reporting. The information was released by Østjyllands Politi, the East Jutland Police district, in a press statement published on the Politi Update service.
The roundabout is located next to the discount store ABC Lavpris on Hobrovej. Police and ambulances were present in large numbers at the site on Thursday afternoon, as reported by Avisen Danmark, which described the incident as a serious traffic accident.
At 4:45 p.m., officers were still working at the scene, and the area remained closed to traffic. Avisen Danmark reported that vehicles were passing the roundabout by ABC Lavpris, while a nearby stretch of road was sealed off.
That closure covered the section of Vester Boulevard running from the roundabout at the grocery store to Vestervangsskolen, a public school in the area. The outlet did not report when the road was expected to reopen.
Cause not yet released
Østjyllands Politi has not released details about how the collision between the bicycle and the truck occurred. The police statement cited by Avisen Danmark confirmed the time of death, the age of the victim and the location of the crash.
The Avisen Danmark report was filed at 3:55 p.m. and updated at 4:52 p.m., with the outlet noting that the story would be updated further. No information was published about the truck driver or about any charges.

Randers is Denmark’s sixth largest city and lies in East Jutland, north of Aarhus. Hobrovej is one of the main roads leading out of the city center, and the roundabout at number 109 sits close to a school and a retail area.
Østjyllands Videncenter and other police units were not named in the statement, and the police did not say how many people witnessed the crash. Avisen Danmark said officers remained at the location while the investigation of the scene continued.
