Danish entertainer Martin Brygmann has announced a new album, “Friheden,” which he says will land on streaming services later in August. The release comes about two years after he stepped away from live performing.
Brygmann revealed the coming album in a post on Instagram on Friday morning, DR reports. According to the broadcaster’s report, published on August 14, 2026, he described the release as imminent.
DR notes that the album listing was already visible on Spotify, where “Friheden” is shown with 13 songs. The track titles include “Ensomhed,” “Dengang jeg drog afsted” and “Det var så det.”
The broadcaster also reports that Brygmann has released individual new songs over the past year. He has around 400 titles registered with the rights organization Koda, according to DR.
Among his best known credits is the soundtrack song “Vent på mig,” recorded by Peter Frödin and Jimmy Jørgensen for the film “En kort en lang.” DR also names the song “For kendt,” made as part of Lex & Klatten with Hella Joof, Paprika Steen and Frödin.
Withdrew from performing in 2024
Brygmann had performed at Smukfest for several years. In 2024, the festival said he had decided not to appear there, or anywhere else that summer, after the DR documentary “Sexisme i musikbranchen” was broadcast.
In the documentary, five women described boundary-crossing behavior by a musician who was not named, according to DR. Brygmann later wrote in a longer Facebook post that a simple internet search would leave no doubt the program was about him.
In that post, he described himself as having been an awkward and insecure young man who at times found sudden fame hard to manage. He pointed to his own song “Jeg vil i seng med de fleste” and the theater show “De fleste ulykker sker med lemmet” as examples of his style.
Brygmann further wrote that he had been blind to how his often crude and flirtatious humor could be experienced as boundary-crossing. He said the humor was part of him both professionally and privately.
He also stated that on the few occasions during his 35-year career when someone found his words or behavior inappropriate, he apologized to the person involved.
