A TikTok format built on serving one food item six different ways is spreading among Danish creators, DR reported on September 18, 2026.
The concept is called “6 [name of the food] 6 ways” and involves taking a single ingredient and preparing or combining it in six variations within one video. According to DR, the format is currently circulating on TikTok with eggs, popcorn, burgers and noodles.
For the Danish TikTok profile Dina Falkeid, it started with a video in which she ate cheeseburgers six different ways. She had seen others do the trend and wanted to try it herself. The series has since grown to more than 14 videos.
Her most-viewed video in the series features Buldak noodles, a popular Korean instant noodle, and has passed 270,000 views. Falkeid today has around 17,000 followers, and roughly 3,000 of them arrived after she began the series. She told DR she had not planned to make more than the first cheeseburger video.
Why the format works
Jonatan Leer, professor of food culture at Örebro University, says the format suits social media well. The videos are short, the cuts are fast, and the viewer already knows what is coming. As he put it to DR, the visual side matters enormously.
A single portion of popcorn can be served with chocolate, honey or cherry sauce. Within seconds, the viewer sees six variations, often in very different colors and textures. There is also an element of surprise, since some combinations look strange, according to Leer.
When it gets extreme
Some videos in the trend show large quantities, with users eating six burgers or six portions of the same snack. Leer told DR there can be a downside to that kind of viral food video. He described the dishes as typically fast, appealing calories, sometimes in extreme amounts.
Falkeid says her videos are not an attempt to encourage people to eat large quantities. She also posts videos showing that she eats the food from her clips, which she says is meant to show that it does not end as food waste. She describes the many portions as a gimmick that works well on social media.
Interest from her followers is the main reason the series has continued, she told DR. After the first success she made another video, and then another. When one of her videos gets many views, she often makes something similar, because she then knows what people want to see.

The trend is one of several Danish TikTok formats to gain traction this year. DR notes that the appeal lies in the simplicity of the concept: one food item, six ways, and an algorithm that appears to want another serving.
