A new Epinion poll for DR puts Venstre at 7.1 percent, half the support of Dansk Folkeparti, leaving the party as the smallest in the blue bloc apart from Borgernes Parti.
According to reporting by DR, the poll shows that just 7.1 percent of voters would back Venstre if an election were held today. That is a fall of 2.2 percentage points since August, when the party stood at 9.3 percent.
Dansk Folkeparti rises from 12.3 percent in August to 14.3 percent in the new measurement. That makes the party twice the size of Venstre, which is now the eighth largest party in the Folketing in the poll.
Venstre’s political spokesperson, Sophie Løhde, told DR the result is a poor one and that there should be no doubt about that. She said voters punish parties with internal unrest, and that Venstre must take full responsibility.
Løhde referred to the turmoil in the party two weeks ago. Five of Venstre’s 18 members of parliament, including Søren Gade, voted against leader Troels Lund Poulsen’s line on the fertilizer law regulating nitrogen emissions from agriculture.
Second lowest result since 2008
DR notes that 7.1 percent is the second lowest level Epinion has ever measured for Venstre since the institute began polling for the broadcaster in 2008. The low point was May 2024, when 6.5 percent said they would vote for the party.
Troels Lund Poulsen said in a recent interview with DR that he doubted at the time whether Venstre would survive as a party. DR adds that several polls from other institutes have recently placed Venstre at roughly the same level.
At the general election in March, Venstre recorded its worst result ever with 10.1 percent of the vote. The party still became the largest in the blue bloc, but in the new poll it is overtaken by Liberal Alliance, Konservative, Danmarksdemokraterne and Dansk Folkeparti.

Dansk Folkeparti group chairman Peter Kofod said his party has exploded and that he is very pleased. He also urged calm among supporters, noting that it is a long time until the next election.
No agreed candidate for prime minister
DR reports that the blue bloc agrees neither on who should lead the opposition nor on who should be prime minister. Troels Lund Poulsen has declared his candidacy for the election due by 2030, with backing from Konservative leader Mona Juul.
Liberal Alliance, Dansk Folkeparti and Danmarksdemokraterne have not stated who they see as their candidate. Asked whether Venstre can maintain its claim at 7 percent, Løhde said nothing should be taken for granted and that the party must earn greater support.
Pressed on how far support would have to fall before a leadership change, Løhde said Venstre has the right leader. She added that the party’s national congress decides who chairs Venstre.
In the red bloc, SF loses ground in the same poll, falling from 12.1 to 10.4 percent. According to DR, support for Pia Olsen Dyhr’s party has not been lower since 2022.
