The Danish royal family visited Princess Isabella at the Guard Hussar Regiment’s barracks in Slagelse on Sunday, September 13, during a visiting day for conscripts.
Princess Isabella, who is currently serving as a conscript, was greeted with hugs and kisses by her family at Gardehusarregimentet, DR reports. The visit took place at the regiment’s visiting day, and the royal house published photographs from the day on Instagram.
Both her parents, King Frederik and Queen Mary, attended, according to DR. Her siblings, Crown Prince Christian, Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent, were also present in Slagelse.
Kongehuset states that the visiting day at Gardehusarregimentets kaserne allowed the family to see the princess in her new surroundings. Per the royal house, the family also met her fellow conscripts from the same company.
B.T. reported from the scene that the entire immediate family was present in Slagelse. According to the outlet, they left again before the public open house began.
TV 2 reported that the palace shared pictures from the visiting day at the princess’s barracks, confirming the family’s appearance in Slagelse.
One month into an 11-month service
Princess Isabella began her conscription at Gardehusarregimentet in August 2026, according to Kongehuset. The family visiting day therefore came about a month into her service.
She is among the first conscripts to serve under Denmark’s extended 11-month conscription model, as stated by the royal house. The length of Danish conscription was extended shortly before her intake.
DR notes that the princess finished upper secondary school earlier in 2026 and celebrated with other graduates over the summer. She said at the time that she would spend the start of the summer celebrating, then be with her family until moving to Slagelse.
Gardehusarregimentet held the day as a family visiting day and open house for its conscripts, per Kongehuset. The regiment is based in Slagelse in West Zealand, where conscripts live and train during their service.
The photographs released by the royal house show King Frederik, Princess Josephine, Princess Isabella and Crown Prince Christian together, as well as the princess with her mother, Queen Mary. The images are credited to Kongehuset.
Princess Isabella is the second child of King Frederik X and Queen Mary. Her older brother, Crown Prince Christian, completed his own military service before her, and he attended Sunday’s visit in Slagelse.
