DR has published the final episode of its wilderness series “Alene i vildmarken” on DRTV, and one of the three remaining contestants, 27-year-old Niels Drescher, is still going strong on day 40 in Finland.
In a weekend feature published on August 22, 2026, DR reports that Drescher is spending the weekend at home while viewers watch the season conclude. He has moved into a three-winged farmhouse in Norsminde, south of Aarhus, with his girlfriend Isa and another couple.
According to DR, Drescher plans a deliberately quiet weekend with no guests and no trips into the city. The one exception is an open air screening of the film “Frankenstein” on the sloping grass roof of Moesgaard Museum. He also told DR that he had no Instagram account before the program and now has 25,000 followers.
DR’s episode page for “Alene i vildmarken: rekorden bliver slået” confirms that this is the season’s last episode, with three participants left and the action filmed in the Finnish wilderness. The season is framed around breaking the program’s endurance record.
Record framing and earlier reporting
Ahead of the season, Presse-fotos.dk reported on June 25, 2026 that two participants in the tenth season would pass 60 days in Finland. The same report stated that the previous overall record of 60 days was shared by Flemming Sanggaard and Kim Krohn from earlier Norwegian-filmed seasons.
Presse-fotos.dk also noted that the Finland record stood at 49 days, set by Claus Ballisager and Ulrik Ørskov in season eight. A media guide from Medieportal.dk, published June 12, 2026, listed the longest participation ever as 72 days, set by a contestant named Jens in an earlier season.
Omnibus, the newspaper of Aarhus University, reported on August 12, 2026 that Drescher studies medicine there and was among the final three of ten participants. Omnibus also noted that participants signed non-disclosure agreements and could not say how long they lasted before broadcast.
MigogAarhus described him on June 25, 2026 as the youngest participant in the tenth season. In an interview published August 15, 2026, Se og Hør reported that there is no cash prize in the format, only honor, and that Drescher hopes to compete in the American version, “Alone”.
DR writes that Drescher’s calendar has been full since he returned from Finland, and that he speaks to the media several times a day. He told DR he intends to spend the weekend on the farm, tending the greenhouse and vegetable patch, and eating ice cream from the local shop Kastbergs.
