Singlefestivalen opens on Refshaleøen in Copenhagen on Friday, with organizers expecting hundreds of guests across a two day program aimed primarily at singles.
DR reports that events aimed at singles are multiplying across the Copenhagen area, from speeddating to mingling nights. The broadcaster reports that Singlefestivalen opens later today on Refshaleøen in Copenhagen.
According to DR, the festival runs today and tomorrow and expects more than 600 guests. It is primarily aimed at singles, but people in relationships may also attend if they wear a wingman or wingwoman armband.
The festival is organized by Sofie Holme from Forelsket i en Fart. As reported by DR, she describes the concept as an intuitive openness toward both romance and friendship. She adds that she does not involve herself in whether guests pair up, and that last year’s edition produced both couples and friendships.
Local outlet MigogKbh adds that the festival takes place at the venue Halvandet on Refshaleøen on Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22. Per the same outlet, the site has room for up to 1,200 participants per day, with an age limit of 25 and opening hours from 14:00 to 24:00.
MigogKbh lists concerts, silent disco, sound baths, linedance, talks, workshops, comedy and food trucks on the program. The outlet describes the event as possibly the largest festival in Denmark exclusively for singles. The attendance figures given by the two outlets differ, and neither specifies whether the numbers refer to tickets sold or maximum capacity.
Why singles events are growing
DR spoke with ethnologist and trend researcher Julia Lahme, who says people can quickly feel out of place when surrounded only by couples. According to her, spaces where everyone has agreed that they are single can feel de-stressing and relaxing.
Therapist and sexologist Patricia Jiménez, who facilitates several dating events, tells DR that meeting like-minded people matters, especially for people in their thirties. She notes that such events can lead to friendships and communities, not only potential partners. Copenhagen has also seen singles-only parties in recent years.
Mathias Jensen, 34, told DR he has not attended singles events himself but is open to the format. He said he would like to learn more about flirting and meeting people. He also said he sees advantages in meeting offline rather than only through dating apps, which he described as built to keep users available rather than to help them find love.
MigogKbh notes that Forelsket i en Fart has focused on offline dating since February 2025. According to the company’s own information cited by the outlet, it has held more than 100 events in Copenhagen. The company’s event overview lists Singlefestival in August 2026 alongside its recurring speeddating events.
