Venice Film Festival hosts Danish Count Nikolai, Oasis

The 83rd Venice Film Festival drew a heavily populated red carpet this week, with Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, Hollywood actors and Danish Count Nikolai of Monpezat among the arrivals.

DR reports that the Italian canal city has been filled with well-known faces during the opening days of this year’s festival. The films remain the focus, but Hollywood names, models and rock stars have dominated the photo lines. The festival runs until September 12, 2026.

Among the Danish guests is Count Nikolai of Monpezat, who walked the red carpet with his girlfriend, Benedikte Thoustrup, at the premiere of the film “The Basics of Philosophy”. Per DR, Nikolai also attended the festival last year through Armani, the fashion house he has done modeling work for.

The most talked about arrival came on September 5, when Liam and Noel Gallagher appeared for the premiere of the documentary “Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger”. DR describes the brothers as being in good spirits at the festival. The film deals with how the two became friends again after years of feuding.

Oasis documentary shown out of competition

According to Reuters, the Gallaghers arrived in Venice by water taxi ahead of the screening. The news agency notes that the documentary is being shown out of competition and follows the band’s reunion tour as well as the repair of the brothers’ long dispute.

Festival organizers had already indicated that the Gallaghers were expected on the red carpet for the premiere, as reported by AP. Reuters adds that the 2026 edition continues until September 12, placing the Oasis screening in the festival’s first week.

DR reports that George Clooney received the honorary Golden Lion for his lifelong contribution to the film industry at the opening ceremony. He was photographed with actor Laura Dern. Actor Maggie Gyllenhaal is serving as jury president for this year’s edition, the 83rd in the festival’s history.

Several titles in the main competition brought their casts to the carpet. Robert Pattinson and musician Phoebe Bridgers appeared for “Primetime”, while sisters Rooney Mara and Kate Mara posed for the press at the screening of “Bucking Fastard”, which also features Orlando Bloom.

Model and television personality Kendall Jenner attended the screening of “Wild Horse Nine”, which is also in the main competition. Steve Buscemi, John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell, all of whom appear in that film, were photographed on the carpet as well.

Director Shinya Tsukamoto and actor Rodney Hicks greeted each other before the screening of their war film “Mr. Nelson, Did you Kill People?”, another celebrity draw among the contenders for the Golden Lion.
