Train traffic between Fredericia, Vejle and Aarhus H was suspended on the evening of August 26, 2026, after a person was struck by a train near Horsens.
DSB halted all services on the stretch during the evening rush, DR reported, citing information published by the rail operator on its own website. The stoppage affected the main line connecting Fredericia and Vejle with Aarhus.
The cause was a person being struck by a train near Horsens, according to TV Syd. The same outlet reported that DSB assessed that trains could run again around 8 p.m. at the earliest.
DSB said it was working to put replacement buses into service on the affected sections. According to DR, the operator’s bus suppliers had difficulty keeping up with demand.
The first replacement bus left Fredericia toward Aarhus at 7:10 p.m., DSB stated. No bus had been confirmed in the opposite direction, from Aarhus toward Fredericia, at that point.
DR published a photograph taken by a passenger showing the departure board at Horsens station at 7:29 p.m. The broadcaster also asked travelers caught in the disruption to send in images and information.
Service resumed later in the evening
DSB’s first forecast was that train traffic could restart at 8 p.m. In an update, DR wrote that DSB had revised the timing, with services set to resume from Fredericia at 8:38 p.m. and from Aarhus at 8:20 p.m.
The line between Fredericia and Aarhus H is part of the main north to south rail corridor through Jutland. Passengers traveling between the two cities were referred to replacement buses while the section was closed.
DR directed readers to its traffic service for further updates during the evening. The broadcaster continued to update its article as new information came in from DSB.
