Swedish police are investigating a 15-year-old girl suspected of helping to prepare the sword attack at a school in Fagersta in August. A 17-year-old girl was killed in the attack.
Swedish investigators have now turned their attention to a teenage girl in the Fagersta case, DR reports. Police suspect that the 15-year-old helped prepare the attack, which cost a young girl her life. The information was released by the Swedish prosecution authority in a press statement.
Police have not specified how they believe the girl assisted. Prosecutor Adolf Oleszkiewicz stated that the investigation uncovered extensive chat conversations involving several young people. According to him, the suspected girl was present in the same internet environment as the man held in custody.
Home searched, girl placed in care
Per Oleszkiewicz, police carried out a search of the girl’s home and seized items that are now being analyzed. The girl was subsequently placed in care by the social services. She is not suspected of having taken part in the attack itself.
As reported by Sveriges Radio, the girl denies the allegations. An 18-year-old man was arrested shortly after the attack in August. He has since been remanded in custody and charged with murder and attempted murder.
The attack took place on August 21, 2026, at the upper secondary school in Fagersta, around 150 kilometers northwest of Stockholm. A person wearing a helmet and a black balaclava attacked with a sword. A 17-year-old girl was killed, while three other people were wounded.
Online community under examination
DR Verificerer has previously documented that an image of a sword was shared shortly before the attack. The picture showed a sword lying on a toilet at the school. It was posted in the online community known as TCC on TikTok.
Police are examining whether the profile that shared the image has a connection to the suspected attacker. According to DR Verificerer, videos celebrating the Fagersta attack were viewed more than 680,000 times on TikTok alone.

The prosecution authority has not published further details about the girl’s suspected role. The seized items from her home remain under analysis by police.
