Police in Copenhagen are seeking witnesses after two cars were hit by stones on the Amagermotorvejen, possibly thrown from a motorway bridge near the Avedøre Holme exit.
Københavns Vestegns Politi said a car was struck by a stone late Wednesday evening near the Avedøre Holme exit. The stone may have been thrown from a motorway bridge, DR reports. The car sustained only superficial damage, and no one was injured.
Police say a stone may also have been thrown from the same bridge in the night to Sunday. In that case a car was hit about an hour after midnight and was damaged, again without injuries. Both episodes are now under investigation.
Vicepolitiinspektør Morten Rosendal said in a press release that a stone thrown at a car on the motorway can create a very dangerous situation. He stressed that this form of endangerment is taken very seriously by police.
The motorway was briefly closed after police received reports of both incidents. The closures allowed officers to secure traces at the scene. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the police district on 43 86 12 48.

TV 2 Kosmopol reported on August 29, 2026, that police were already investigating a possible throwing incident at the same location. According to that report, police said a car’s windshield had been smashed.
Ekstra Bladet reported on September 2, 2026, that police had not yet determined whether the Wednesday night incident was deliberate stone-throwing. As noted in that report, officers had not established whether the object came from the bridge or from the road itself.
B.T. also reported the police appeal for witnesses, and noted that the same bridge had been linked to the earlier incident in the night to Sunday. The Amagermotorvejen is one of the main routes into Copenhagen from the west, and questions of road safety fall to the local police district.
Københavns Vestegns Politi covers the western suburbs of the capital, including Avedøre Holme in Hvidovre Municipality. The district has not said whether the two episodes are believed to be connected. Police have not reported any arrests in either case.
Motorists who use the stretch have not been given any restrictions, and the motorway reopened after the traces were secured. Police repeated that they want to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity on or near the bridge. Further information about the investigation has not been released.
