A 16-year-old boy is in serious condition after being stabbed on a street in Roskilde on Friday evening. Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi have arrested a young man suspected of the attack.
DR reports, citing Ritzau, that the stabbing took place in the street around Louisevej in Roskilde. Police received the report at 5:33 p.m. on Friday, August 14.
Thomas Kristensen, communications chief at Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi, told Ritzau that the 16-year-old is in serious condition. He said a young man has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out the knife attack.
According to Kristensen, police do not yet have reliable information about the motive or what led up to the incident. He added that certain elements allow investigators to link the arrested person to the assault.
Officers remained at the scene on Friday evening, searching for traces and questioning witnesses. In its own public message on Politi Update, the force said it would be present for several more hours and asked people to follow instructions and respect cordons.

Sjællandske Nyheder reports that the arrested suspect is a peer of the 16-year-old victim. The same outlet describes a heavy police presence in Folkeparken by Louisevej, where the investigation was centered.
Ekstra Bladet also reported on the operation, noting that police were massively present at Louisevej in connection with an assault under investigation. The paper reproduced the police request that the public respect the cordons.
Sjællandske Nyheder writes that a so-called puttefest was taking place in the park by Louisevej on Friday evening. Politiken, which carries the same Ritzau report, explains that a puttefest is an introduction party for new gymnasium students.
Kristensen confirmed that police are aware a number of young people were gathered at the site because of the party. He stated that investigators cannot say at this point whether the party and the stabbing are connected.
Crisis counseling at Himmelev Gymnasium
According to Sjællandske Nyheder, the wounded 16-year-old is a newly enrolled first-year student at Himmelev Gymnasium. In a message from the school’s management seen by the outlet, students were offered crisis help at the school from Saturday morning.
The email stated that anyone affected by the incident was welcome to come to Himmelev Gymnasium, where a crisis psychologist would be present. In a follow-up piece, Sjællandske Nyheder reports that some young people at the scene witnessed the stabbing, and that classmates recognized the victim.
