Police in Roskilde have warned the public not to share videos of the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old gymnasium student. The recordings are circulating on social media after the killing on Friday afternoon.
Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi issued the appeal on Saturday, Avisen Danmark reports. Several young people filmed the stabbing, and duty officer Benjamin Rasch told Dagbladet Roskilde that the sharing must stop immediately.
The duty officer stressed that passing the videos on is punishable by law. He also noted that relatives of the dead boy risk coming across the footage online.
Police received the report of the stabbing at 5:33 p.m. on Friday. The 16-year-old boy had been hit by several knife wounds and was flown by helicopter from the scene to Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. He died at the hospital.
The stabbing took place in Folkeparken in Roskilde, near Louisevej. Many young people were gathered there for a larger event tied to the start of the gymnasium school year.
A judge at the District Court in Roskilde found reasonable suspicion against another 16-year-old boy. He was remanded in custody on Saturday after a preliminary hearing.
