Pilot Proposes Midair on Anniversary Tinder Match

A Danish influencer’s long-held dream came true during a flight to Copenhagen when her boyfriend, a pilot, proposed midair on the exact date they first matched on Tinder two years earlier.

A Proposal Among the Clouds

Influencer Sissel Møller, originally from Skive, got an unexpected surprise during her flight from Spain to Denmark. While traveling with her boyfriend Mads Olsen, who is also a pilot, she experienced a proposal that felt straight out of a romantic movie. The couple was on their way to Copenhagen when Mads took control of the in-flight microphone and asked her to come to the front of the plane. That was the moment she realized something extraordinary was about to happen.

Sissel had wished for a proposal in the air, though she never thought it would actually take place. Ironically, Mads had told her earlier that such a plan would be too complicated.

The Perfect Day for a Life-Changing Question

The big moment happened on December 11, a date that carried special meaning for the couple. Two years earlier, it was the same day the pair matched on Tinder, marking the beginning of their relationship. What started as a digital spark had turned into a partnership strong enough to inspire a high-flying proposal.

Matching online is common in Denmark, and many internationals exploring dating in Denmark as an expat find that modern romance often begins on their phones. For Sissel and Mads, it also became the foundation of a love story that soared beyond the ordinary.

According to Sissel, Mads had initially planned to propose later at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. But when she mentioned that her ultimate dream was to be proposed to aboard a plane, he secretly changed his plans. During their flight about an hour in, his nervous energy began to show. Sissel noticed, but he brushed it off by saying he had back pain. Only when she heard her name over the plane’s speakers did she understand what was happening.

From Spain to Skive and Back Again

The couple’s love story started with adventure. Shortly after matching online, Sissel flew to Spain to visit Mads, who lived there due to his work as a pilot. What was meant to be a short trip turned into an extended stay. She even spent Christmas in Spain with him, setting the tone for a relationship defined by spontaneity and travel.

Now, after two years together, the pair is officially engaged. They have not yet set a wedding date, but they plan to begin preparing after Christmas. True to their style, the wedding will be customized to fit their personalities rather than following traditional expectations.

A Proposal to Remember

Sissel later admitted she felt slightly embarrassed by her clothing choice that day. She was wearing old running tights and a worn wool sweater, a sharp contrast to the romantic scene unfolding in front of passengers. Despite that, she described the moment as unforgettable.

Interestingly, the proposal also highlighted how personal love stories unfold differently in Danish society. Whether for locals or expats using dating apps in Denmark, such moments show that romance here can be both heartfelt and unpretentious.

In the end, Sissel’s dream came true exactly as she wished, thousands of feet above the ground. The couple’s midair engagement became a symbol of their two-year journey from an online match to lifelong commitment.
