A 41-year-old man was seriously scalded after falling into a scalding hot outdoor tub at a campsite near Trelde Næs on Friday evening. Police have now reviewed the sequence of events and say no crime is suspected.
The accident took place at the campsite by Trelde Næs outside Fredericia. Avisen Danmark reports that the man was spending time with friends when he was burned and scalded by the water in a wood-fired hot tub.
Vice police inspector Arno Rindahl Petersen told Fredericia Dagblad that there is no suspicion of any criminal offense. According to the police account, the case has been examined and is treated as a pure accident.
Police describe the sequence in detail. The man intended to get into the hot tub at around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, but the water had become far too hot. He noticed it when he put his foot in the water, and in the same moment he slipped and fell in with his whole body.
According to the police description relayed by Avisen Danmark, the man got out of the water quickly. He was then doused with cold water while the group waited for medical help. He was flown by helicopter to Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen and treated at the burns unit.
Police, an ambulance, a doctor’s car and a helicopter arrived at the site shortly after the accident, according to the same reporting. The injured man is 41 years old and from Hedensted. Police state that he is out of danger.
