A young family near Bolskov in Fredericia Municipality is losing its home to Energinet’s planned 400 kV power line between Aabenraa and Aarhus. The property will be expropriated in full, ahead of the normal schedule.
Avisen Danmark reports that Steffen Andresen and his family bought the smallholding on Bovballe Møllevej, between Herslev and Håstrup, and renovated it. About a year ago, a message in their e-Boks from Energinet informed them that the new line would pass close to the property.
According to the family, one of the new pylons is set to stand in the middle of one of their buildings. In a hearing response, they asked for the route to be shifted slightly so the property would be expropriated in full. Energinet accepted that request.
Valuation still missing
Andresen says the family has applied for and been granted accelerated expropriation, but the timing remains unknown. They are waiting for a real estate agent from Randers to value the property, and they do not yet know the amount or when payment will come. The family has already secured another property, according to Avisen Danmark.
Energinet deputy director Marian Kaagh says the long process has made an impression on her, and that many things must be in place before the takeover can be completed. She states that owners within 80 meters of the nearest overhead line should have been contacted directly by phone, and that she is puzzled the family did not hear from Energinet. Andresen maintains that the company neither visited nor called, and that the family had to reach out itself.
Kaagh confirms that real estate agents are arranging visits in the coming weeks. Owners who disagree with a valuation can negotiate terms, including the takeover date. She notes that under current rules there is no compensation for the inconvenience of moving, while a fixed sum covers moving costs. Andresen says the family can receive 50,000 kroner toward the move.

In Fredericia Municipality, one property is to be expropriated for the project, while four others are being offered voluntary takeover, according to Energinet. All homes within 80 meters of the line must be offered a voluntary purchase, an instruction issued by the climate, energy and utilities minister.
Why the takeover can happen now
A press release from Energinet dated February 5, 2026 states that a political agreement requires purchase offers within the 80 meter zone. It also notes that Energinet has been able to use accelerated expropriation since January 1, 2026.
An agreement note from the Klima-, Energi- og Forsyningsministeriet, summarized by Lovguiden, says particularly affected citizens in fast-track grid areas can have expropriation advanced by up to three years. The law firm HjulmandKaptain notes that site inspections are expected in 2027, with expropriation proceedings from 2028.
Andresen says the family accepts that more electricity capacity is needed, but criticizes how Energinet informed those affected.
