A traffic accident involving around ten vehicles on the E20 motorway south of Odense on Friday afternoon has caused long queues in the westbound direction toward Jutland.
The accident was reported to Fyns Politi at 15:15 on Friday, August 14, 2026. Avisen Danmark, drawing on the Ritzau news agency, reports that the crash led to massive congestion on the motorway just south of the city.

Duty officer Per Vestergaard of Fyns Politi told TV 2 Fyn that about ten vehicles were involved. As stated by Vestergaard, there were no immediate reports of anyone being seriously injured in the collision.

The Danish Road Directorate, Vejdirektoratet, reported extended travel times of 10 to 30 minutes on the affected stretch. The directorate expected the disruption to last until around 18:00 on Friday, according to the information relayed by Avisen Danmark.
The E20 is the main east to west motorway across Funen. It carries traffic between Zealand and Jutland past Odense, Denmark’s third largest city. Westbound drivers heading toward the Little Belt and Jutland were the ones affected on Friday afternoon.
