The Danish organization Bevar Ukraine sent its 600th aid truck toward Ukraine from Ringsted on Monday, marking a milestone in the group’s humanitarian deliveries.
Trucks packed with relief supplies rolled out of Midtsjælland on Monday afternoon, August 24. DR reports that the shipment included truck number 600 in the organization’s series of deliveries to the war-torn country.
Six trucks were in the convoy heading east from Ringsted. According to DR, the cargo included medical equipment and materials for critical infrastructure inside Ukraine.
Bevar Ukraine’s fundraising manager, Ole Egeblad, told DR that backing for the effort remains strong. As reported by the broadcaster, he pointed to continued contributions from Danes, companies and foundations as the reason the deliveries can continue.
Generators for clinics near the front
One of the six trucks was filled by two generators that took up the entire cargo hold. Per DR, the generators are intended to power two medical clinics located relatively close to the front line.
The loading in Ringsted also drew political visitors. DR reports that Folketing Speaker Søren Gade of Venstre and Danmarksdemokraterne leader Inger Støjberg took part in loading the trucks to mark the milestone.
TV 2 Øst covered the same departure as a regional story from Ringsted. The outlet reported that relief truck number 600 was being sent from the town toward Ukraine, framing the truck number itself as the milestone.
The materials on board are due to reach recipients in Ukraine within the coming week, according to DR. The organization’s deliveries have covered a range of goods, from medical supplies to equipment for keeping essential services running.
Timing of the milestone
The immediate reason for Monday’s event was the organization reaching 600 trucks. A LinkedIn post dated August 22 by Anastasiia Erichsen showed truck no. 600 being loaded in Ringsted.
That post tied the loading to Ukraine’s Independence Day weekend, a timing detail not spelled out in DR’s report. Ukraine marks its Independence Day on August 24, the same date the convoy left Midtsjælland.
No official Danish government statement was issued in connection with the shipment. The convoy was organized by Bevar Ukraine, which coordinates private and corporate donations for aid to Ukraine.
Bevar Ukraine has run repeated truck convoys since the full-scale Russian invasion began in February 2022. Monday’s departure was the 600th such delivery, according to both DR and TV 2 Øst.
