The well-known art and design museum Trapholt Museum in Kolding has officially closed its doors for an extensive renewal project that will last 14 months. When it reopens in March 2027, visitors will find a completely transformed museum space, including double the exhibition area and a fresh, full-scale rehanging of the collection.
As the sun set over the museum on its final open day, locals gathered outside with torches and songs to mark the temporary farewell. The atmosphere was emotional but hopeful, as the community prepared for a long wait before returning to its beloved cultural hub.

The project will conclude with a lively festival at Kolding Library next year, where students will showcase their interpretations and share their experiences with families and peers. It is just one of several cultural activities planned to ensure that the museum’s presence remains visible throughout its closure.
