Teenager jailed for defrauding 9 women named Kirsten

A 17-year-old man has been remanded in custody for four weeks, charged with defrauding ten elderly people, nine of whom share the first name Kirsten.

According to DR, the teenager was placed in pretrial detention after a court hearing. The case was announced in a joint press release from Mid and West Zealand Police and Funen Police.

Nine different women with the first name Kirsten were allegedly deceived by the 17-year-old. The alleged offenses took place on Funen and in Roskilde, per the police statement.

In total, the man is charged with ten counts of fraud against elderly people. The cases stretch across the Great Belt Bridge, covering both police districts.

For that reason, the investigation was carried out as a collaboration between the two districts, according to the press release. Police did not name any of the alleged victims.

The ten people were manipulated into handing over their payment cards, police said. A total of just under 84,000 kroner was withdrawn using those cards.

Denies the charges

The man was detained following a closed preliminary hearing, known in Denmark as a grundlovsforhør. He denied guilt and declined to make any statement in court, according to police.

The judge ordered the 17-year-old held in custody because of the risk that he would commit new crimes if released. The detention period was set at four weeks.

The press release states that nine of the ten elderly people share the same first name. It does not say what the tenth person is called.

Police noted at the end of the statement that a reservation was made for a possible appeal of the detention order. No further details about the investigation were released.

DR’s report was published on September 18, 2026, and named the two police districts as the sources of the information. The case has not yet been brought to trial, and the charges remain allegations.
