Danish rock band Gnags is ending its career with a five-concert farewell tour in April 2027. Promoter Live Nation and frontman Peter A.G. confirmed the tour, titled Grande Finale, in a press release on Monday.
DR reports that the band is stopping after its 60th anniversary, with five arena concerts next spring. The press release describes the run as a final farewell tour and as a last tour in the ring.
The five April concerts are set for Aarhus, Aalborg, Herning, Odense and Copenhagen. According to the press release, the farewell is aimed at the audience that has followed Gnags since 1966. Tickets go on sale on Friday, August 28, 2026.
BT reports that the tour runs from April 2 to April 30, 2027, and that the band will stop after the spring dates. BT also notes that Gnags releases a new album on September 4, 2026. DR confirms the album date but does not specify the exact tour window.
The Live Nation press release, distributed via Ritzau, states that the concerts will take place in the country’s largest indoor arenas. It adds practical details not included in DR’s account, among them the tour name, venue format, presales and ticket prices.
Per Peter A.G., the band has played nearly every venue, festival and hall in Denmark since 1966. He states in the press release that 60 years on the road have left their mark, and that he wishes the band could reach every part of the country. For that reason, the shows are concentrated in the largest arenas, where many people can easily attend.
An earlier farewell that never happened
Gnags was originally due to play a farewell tour in 2022. As reported by DR, that plan changed after the death of Per Frost, who played guitar in the band during its peak years in the 1980s and 1990s and again from 2016. His death left Peter A.G. as the only remaining original member.
According to DR, Peter A.G. then restarted the band in order to end its history properly, recorded a new album and went back on tour. That decision led to the summer festival dates that have now concluded.
Foreshadowed at Smukfest
Peter A.G. closed the band’s last run of Danish festival concerts at Smukfest a few weeks ago, where he promised a tour the following year. GAFFA reported on August 10 that the band had played its final festival concert and pointed to a planned spring 2027 tour and a new album.
Ekstra Bladet also covered the Smukfest announcement, but noted at the time that it was unclear whether the 2027 dates would be farewell shows. Monday’s press release from Live Nation confirms that they will be, with hits including “De Vilde Kaniner” and “Mr. Swing King” on the program.
