Nordjyske Museer has moved its mobile exhibition about the football club AaB out of central Aalborg, after unknown people repeatedly used the exhibition container as a toilet.
DR reported on August 14, 2026 that the exhibition, called “Klubben og Byen,” opened last week in a container on John F. Kennedys Plads, next to the train station in central Aalborg. Nordjyske Museer has now moved the container to the south side of Aalborg Stadion.
Museum curator Thor Bæch Pedersen told DR that people had urinated inside the exhibition container several times. He called the situation very unfortunate and said the museum drew the obvious conclusion and relocated the container.
According to DR, the square is used heavily by the city’s vulnerable residents, which was part of the problem at the original site. Pedersen said the museum was aware of this before choosing the location. He added that the container has toured for four seasons, including busy and socially exposed places, without similar problems.
TV2 Nord also reported the relocation, describing repeated urination inside the container as the reason the museum had to move the exhibition. Its report referred to the people involved as residents in need of a toilet.
Part of a travelling exhibition concept
The AaB exhibition belongs to Nordjyske Museer’s concept Den Korte Historie, which according to DR has toured different corners of North Jutland since 2023. On its own website, Nordjyske Museer describes the format as a travelling exhibition container used to tell local stories in the places where they happened.
AaB announced that the exhibition on John F. Kennedys Plads was free and open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. until August 26, 2026. DR reports that the exhibition can now be seen at Aalborg Stadion until August 24.
The club has used the same format before. In an October 2024 notice, AaB announced a similar pop-up exhibition about the club’s history in the 3F Fanzone at Aalborg Portland Park, where AaB plays its home matches.
The exhibition covers more than 140 years of AaB history, according to DR. Pedersen said he hopes the audience at the stadium will receive the exhibition better than visitors did on the central square. Asked whether a rival supporter could have been behind the incidents, he said he did not believe that was the case.
Pedersen stated that Nordjyske Museer will continue producing mobile exhibitions that reach residents directly. The container remains part of the Den Korte Historie tour after the AaB exhibition closes later this month.
