Staff at Nordsjællands Hospital in Hillerød found a hidden camera in a women’s changing room on August 7. Nordsjællands Politi is still investigating who placed it there.
Female nurses and doctors discovered the camera in the ceiling of the changing room, DR reports. Police were called immediately after the find, and the investigation is ongoing.
Sabine Mazurek is the nurses’ joint union representative at the hospital and deputy chair of its cooperation committee. Speaking on DR’s radio program P1 Morgen on August 14, she described the incident as violating and boundary-crossing for everyone who had used the room. She also said she was very surprised that it had happened at all.
The changing room is used daily by 24 women who have lockers there, according to DR. All employees who had used the room have received what Mazurek calls a special letter. The letter offers them conversations with managers and psychological help if needed.
No further cameras found
Only the one camera has been found so far, DR reports. Staff continue to make rounds of the changing rooms to check for more. Other hospital employees have been informed through the hospital’s intranet.
Mazurek said she is paying attention to whether colleagues express fear about changing at the hospital. As reported by DR, that has not been the case so far. She described the mood among staff as relatively calm.
She also noted that it is currently the summer holiday period. Some employees are reacting now, while others will react later, per her account on P1 Morgen. On that basis, she expects a larger internal fallout among staff over time.
Mazurek additionally expressed concern about the development of technology and the consequences for hospital employees, according to DR’s report.
Police investigation continues
Nordsjællands Politi told DR that the investigation is still underway. The force could not say whether there is a suspect in the case. It is also not clear at this point who placed the camera, or how long it had been in the ceiling.
The district responsible for the case covers North Zealand, including Hillerød, according to Nordsjællands Politi. No separate public statement about the hidden-camera case has been published on the force’s own channels.
Nordsjællands Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the Capital Region of Denmark. Working conditions and safety at Danish hospitals have drawn union attention in other cases, including when Danish unions flagged safety risks at new superhospitals.
