Fyns Politi has confiscated an electric scooter capable of 130 kilometers per hour, and the head of Rådet for Sikker Trafik has now publicly condemned the case in a post on LinkedIn.
The police district said on TV 2 on Monday that the scooter was the fastest it has ever seized. Avisen Danmark reports that the seizure took place on Funen the same week.
According to the reporting, Fyns Politi used the case to appeal to the public to stick to legal electric scooters. Such scooters may travel up to 20 kilometers per hour under Danish rules.
The disclosure prompted a reaction from Jakob Bøving Arendt, chief executive of Rådet for Sikker Trafik, the Danish Road Safety Council. In a post on LinkedIn, he wrote that he was angry, and described the scooter as deranged and irresponsible.
Arendt stated that a scooter with that speed has absolutely nothing to do in traffic. He added that he hardly dared think about the consequences if it had hit a child on the way to school, or an ordinary cyclist, before the police stopped it.
He ended the post by thanking Fyns Politi for doing what it can to clear up the bike lanes. As reported by Avisen Danmark, the post had drawn 803 reactions and 63 comments.
Fyns Politi replied in the comment section under the post. The district wrote that the case was extreme, and that illegal electric scooters and e-bikes have not made traffic safety work any less important.
It is not the first time the police district has raised the issue. Per Avisen Danmark, Fyns Politi published a Facebook post in March 2026 stating that it was seizing many illegal electric scooters.
In that post from March 2026, the police urged people to be careful with illegal electric scooters, saying they can be life-threatening. The current case involves a scooter more than six times faster than the legal limit.

The immediate trigger was the police district’s own account on TV 2 on Monday, where officers described the seizure and issued their warning to citizens. Arendt’s LinkedIn post followed later in the week, according to Avisen Danmark.
