Thousands of middle school students will gather this November for the largest entrepreneurship festival in Denmark, pitching creative solutions for future cities and climate change in front of key figures, including the Danish Minister for Climate and Energy.
Nationwide Festival in Denmark Cultivates Innovation Among Young Danes
Denmark’s largest entrepreneurship festival will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Holbæk Sportsby. Organized by the Danish Foundation for Entrepreneurship, the event brings together thousands of 6th and 7th-grade students from across the country to share and develop their ideas in a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and innovation. Students get to share ideas and learn from each other.
The highlight of the festival is the national finals of “Projekt Edison,” a school innovation challenge that tasks young participants with designing solutions to pressing climate and energy problems. Students will pitch their projects before a live audience that includes business leaders, local mayors, educators, and Lars Aagaard, Denmark’s Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities. Presenting to leaders helps students see how their ideas can make a difference.
Climate and Energy Take Center Stage
This year’s central theme is “How do we design the city of the future, and solve our climate and energy challenges?” Students have spent weeks in preparation, crafting solutions that range from sustainable building concepts to energy-saving transportation systems.
Attendees will witness the creativity of youths from the regions of Zealand, Lolland-Falster, Møn, Bornholm, and Copenhagen. Selected teams will have the opportunity to present their ideas directly to Minister Aagaard and answer questions about their innovation process and proposed solutions.
By involving future generations in the decision-making processes about climate and energy, the initiative aims to inspire not just entrepreneurial spirit but also lifelong environmental responsibility.
Major Prize Up for Grabs
The most outstanding invention will be awarded a prize of 10,000 Danish kroner (approximately $1,400) to support the winning team’s classroom activities. The winning group will also carry the distinguished title of “Projekt Edison Inventors of the Year.”
Press representatives are invited to follow individual student teams throughout the day and report on their journey from presentation to the final awards ceremony, which takes place between 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM.
Educators and Innovators Unite
The festival in Denmark is part of a broader national effort to integrate entrepreneurship education into the Danish school system. Driven by the Foundation for Entrepreneurship, the initiative aims to embed innovation and problem-solving skills at all levels of education. Currently, the festival spans six different locations during the month of November, enabling widespread access for students, teachers, and institutions across the country.
The foundation supports its mission by organizing hands-on learning experiences and professional development opportunities for teachers. The ultimate goal is for Danish students to complete their education equipped with the skills to think creatively and enact meaningful societal change.
The Foundation Behind the Festival in Denmark
The Foundation for Entrepreneurship (Fonden for Entreprenørskab) believes that entrepreneurial education empowers young people to create, innovate, and drive progress. The organization functions as Denmark’s national knowledge center for entrepreneurship in education, providing resources, teacher training, and support for innovative learning methods.
Its strategic objective is to ensure that students at all educational levels in Denmark acquire entrepreneurial capabilities, regardless of whether they pursue startup ventures or contribute to existing companies in inventive ways. By instilling entrepreneurial thinking early, the foundation fosters a culture of proactive problem-solvers who are prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Press Participation Encouraged
Press accreditation is open, and media representatives are encouraged to attend the Holbæk festival to capture the unique atmosphere and interview both students and public figures. Journalists interested in attending or covering specific regional student groups can arrange access by contacting press manager Nicolaj Truelsen at nicolaj@ffefonden.dk.
Through this annual celebration of innovation, young Danes are not just learning about entrepreneurship, they are actively shaping the country’s future, one idea at a time. With over 10,000 students participating in Projekt Edison nationwide each year, the initiative reflects Denmark’s leading role in equipping youth with tools to innovate for a sustainable world.
