When users input their travels into the Rejseplanen app, options from Nabogo will appear, provided that the municipality they are traveling to or from has purchased a subscription. Since its testing phase started in November 2023, many local high schools have explored the use of the Nabogo app for facilitating ride-sharing. Lærke Bilgaard, a student in her second year at Varde Gymnasium, noted that carpooling has become a simple habit for her. She stated, “We’re all headed in the same direction, so rather than starting another car, it makes sense to drive another way to pick someone up.”

Lærke’s classmate, Victoria Madsen, who is also participating as a driver, shared her thoughts on carpooling. She finds it enjoyable to share rides with friends and is comfortable picking up strangers as well. “If it’s one of my friends, it’s quite nice, but if not, I just turn up the music and enjoy the ride,” she said. This social aspect of carpooling appears to resonate well with students, making the practice more appealing.

Kasper Dam Mikkelsen, co-founder of Nabogo, highlighted that younger people tend to embrace ride-sharing quickly, while older generations are often more hesitant. He explained, “The working-age population tends to be ‘second movers’; they often wait to see how it works or hear about it from colleagues before they commit.” This observation underscores the potential for the program to gain traction over time as more people experience its benefits.

In Sønderborg, for instance, 954 residents utilized the Nabogo app between August 2023 and March 2025, with 320 acting as drivers and 838 as passengers.
