Studieskolen has once again won the City of Copenhagen’s public tender for Danish Language Education and will continue to offer free Danish language classes for adult international citizens for many years to come.
Studieskolen Scores High in Overall Evaluation
The City of Copenhagen selected Studieskolen based on an overall assessment of quality, teaching standards, staff expertise, working relationship and student satisfaction. Studieskolen achieved the highest overall score among the bidders in the tender process.
“We are very proud to continue our work of giving international citizens free access to learning Danish. This is a strong vote of confidence from the City of Copenhagen and a recognition of our dedicated teachers and our pedagogical approach,” says Qasim Shaikh, Managing Director at Studieskolen.
The municipality highlights the school’s teaching as being flexible in both format and scheduling. With classes available in the morning, afternoon, evening and at weekends – both online and on site in Copenhagen – students can learn Danish in a way that fits into their everyday lives. The classes support students’ ability to speak, understand, read and write Danish, while also providing insight into Danish culture, the labour market and society.

Multiple Languages under one Roof
One of Studieskolen’s special strengths is its vibrant environment. Danish language students share their daily learning space with people studying other languages. This creates natural encounters across languages and cultures and gives Danish learners more opportunities to use the language in practice.
The language school also organises Language Partner Cafés and other social activities where students get together to talk and build new networks. Here, international students and Danes learning each other’s languages come together in informal settings where language comes to life and new friendships often emerge.
“Languages are best learned through interaction with other people. When our students use Danish in social settings and across languages, learning becomes both more dynamic and more meaningful,” says Qasim Shaikh.
What is Danish Language Education?
Danish Language Education is a municipal programme for adult foreign nationals who wish to learn Danish. There are three programmes – DU1, DU2 and DU3 – each designed to develop students’ language skills based on their individual backgrounds. Students who are entitled to free Danish Language Education can attend the classes at no cost.
